Embrace the Journey

It seems like a lifetime ago that I started this blog. When I started it, I struggled with finding a name that fit what I was trying to do with it. I simply left it as Untitled. At the time I felt like this was a fitting title for the blog as it sort of mirrored my life. I was starting off with so many new adventures in life, like moving to a new apartment, starting my Bachelor’s program, I also started a new job and soon after an internship with Ohio Magazine. I felt like there was so much going on at once and I was not sure how to capture it all.

After a while, I started to feel like I had a handle on everything. I felt like things were starting to come together. On a random shopping trip to Target, I came across a picture that had Embrace the Journey painted on it. I thought it was perfect, it fit my new philosophy on life and it also embodied what I was trying to do with this blog.  As I was describing this to a very special someone, they said “That’s what you should call your blog.” I cannot believe I had not thought of that. It was perfect.

Embracing your journey is exactly what I want people to take away from this lifestyle blog. I want to share the ups and downs I go through in life, in the hopes that someone, somewhere will take comfort in knowing that although life does not always go exactly how you want, it can still be beautiful. I want them to know that they too can achieve anything, that they can follow their dreams and be happy. I want people to know that no matter what happens in life, no matter what goes wrong or doesn’t seem to go your way, you can change it. You can do anything and make your life anything you want it to be.

Most importantly, I want to prove this to myself.

  1. Beautiful post. And what an ending. All blog writers should be aware that they are also writing as a means to self-discovery.

And, yes, the journey counts, not the destination. Happiness is a way of travel, after all.
